Did you know that Alberta has a commercial fishing industry? Alberta's freshwater commercial fishery is centered around Slave Lake, Lac La Biche, and Cold Lake, but about 200 commercial fishermen pull 2.3 million kg of freshwater fish out of 84 different Alberta lakes. Whitefish roe from fish caught in Alberta, called Golden caviar, ends up on cruise line buffet tables in Scandinavia and the Baltics.
